   Special Features of the Course 

The course aims to develop high quality primary school teachers having positive attitude, the requisite theoretical base, varied exposure to real teaching-learning situations inside and outside the classroom and the modern teaching skills needed in the classroom. The course clearly aims to equip trainees with more than a certificate – it seeks to help them realise their inner potential to really make a difference. 

The main objectives of the College are as follows:

  • to build a cadre of well-trained teachers

  • to prepare primary teachers and teacher educators

  • to make the trainees proficient teachers in their respective subjects

  • to prepare them to use computers for teaching English and other subjects

  • to train them to prepare Technology – Aided learning materials

  • to give them practice in the Language Laboratory for listening comprehension and oral communication

  • to promote a good reading habit among the children of primary schools

  • to provide opportunity for individual creative expression through art, craft, song and drama

  • to help them to relate the subject to arithmetic and scientific skills likely to be used in ordinary life

  • to prepare sets of materials to be used in primary schools

 

Establishing Contacts

  • to run workshops for parents and raise their awareness about the teaching-learning process

  • to create an atmosphere of excellence in local primary schools

  • to keep in touch with other primary teacher training colleges and interact with them

  • to exhibit books suitable for children in primary schools

The College has developed a fresh perspective on education to enhance value and quality education.

Conducive Environment to Learn

It believes in environment that is friendly, caring, loving and non-threatening. The emphasis is on letting a trainee discover through exploration, both physical and mental, in play, learn and reflect. Every trainee learns at his/her own pace and moves on to greater challenges.

Learning beyond classrooms

Learning becomes much more effective and relevant through hands on experiences, dramatizing concepts learnt, applying the learning in real-life experiences.

Parent-School Relationship

Parents are an integral part of the community. The College aims to learn through their wisdom and experience by maintaining close ties with them, inviting them regularly to the College and interacting with them. The College also educate parents by conducting special workshops, meetings and programmes.

Continuous Evaluation

This is a process to help evaluate the trainees better by continuous day-to-day monitoring and feed back. The evaluation provides detail observation.

Attendance and Discipline

It is compulsory for all the trainees to remain present on the first day of the term and attend classes regularly on all working days. Trainees are warned that 100%  attendance is necessary. If a trainee remains absent even for a period, he is marked absent for the whole day.  It is also compulsory to satisfactorily complete the assignments, practice teaching as per the college calendar. It is necessary that trainees abide by the norms and rules of the College and conduct themselves in a disciplined manner.
